Accommodation

Indoor, Lodges, and Camping Accommodation are available at the Lapwing Lodge Base Camp.

The Indoor Accommodation is available in both the West and East Wings of the Main Building at Lapwing Lodge.  The West wing has nine 4 Bunk Rooms, plus two 6 Bunk Rooms (upstairs).  The East Wing has seven 4 Bunk Rooms.  This accommodation is supported in both Wings by Toilets and Showers, plus fully equipped self-catering Kitchens, with Dining Rooms (*) – one of each for both Wings.  Each Wing has a Lounge.  Access to the token operated Laundry facilities is available to those using the Indoor Accommodation.

(* If both the West and East Wings are substantially occupied for IRW, the West Wing Dining Room will be available as additional, to the Activities Hall, Workshop space, particularly for larger rocket projects.  The East Wing Dining Room is easily large enough for the occupants of both Wings.  People will be sitting down to eat at different times, so overcrowding is highly unlikely.)

Lodges, or Glamping units, a.k.a. Hobbit Houses, are available at Lapwing Lodge. There are four of these lodges. Each has bunk sleeping accommodation for up to 10 people – 8 in the main section, and 2 in a separate, private section. This makes the Hobbit Houses very suitable for larger groups coming to the IRW, e.g. student rocket teams of more than four to six people, or larger family groups. The Hobbit Houses have electric light, and mobile device charging sockets. For cooking there is a Cook House next door to the Hobbit Houses. This provides four sets of double gas burners, one set for each House. There is a Dining Hall with the Hobbit Houses, with tables and chairs for use of the Hobbit House occupants. For dining outdoors if the weather is good, there's an area of the fixed wooden tables and seats in the Hobbit Houses area.  Kitchen utensils, etc, can be hired from Lapwing Lodge for use during Hobbit House stays.  Hobbit House occupants use the Shower & Toilet blocks provided for the Campers.

Prior booking of Indoor Accommodation is strongly recommended.

The Camping facilities are:

- 25 Acres Camping area.
- Toilets and showers (blocks outside rear of the Main Building).
- Pots & Pans and Dish Washing area.
- Access to the token operated Laundry facilities.
- Alter fires and wood fuel available.

Prior booking for Camping is not required.

The rates for the Indoor and Lodges Accommodation, and arrangements for booking that, and the Camping rates are on the Important Information page.
